Hands Outside The Walls - Prison Outreach Ministry
➢ Our mission is to facilitate a smoother reintegration into the community, minimizing
the stress and challenges associated with readjustment. The goal is to be the
“Hands outside the Wall,” to provide comprehensive support to children of women
who are incarcerated.
➢ We will aim to secure stable housing options that meet the needs of both the
returning individual and their child/ren. We will assist in obtaining employment
opportunities that offer fair wages, accompanied by vital resources such as up-to- date
identification and necessary documents before their release.
➢ Additionally, we will ensure access to essential resources and supplies, including
food and groceries, to alleviate immediate concerns post-release. Healthcare
coverage will be prioritized, connecting individuals to necessary services and
insurance plans, enabling them to maintain their well-being.
➢ Transportation solutions availability, such as bus passes or assistance in obtaining
an affordable vehicle, etc., will be arranged to ensure they can access jobs, medical
appointments, and community services without barriers.
➢ Moreover, we recognize the importance of rebuilding family dynamics and support
systems. Fostering a nurturing environment is vital for a stable transition; therefore,
we will engage in targeted efforts to strengthen family bonds and provide resources
for relationship building.
➢ We will offer gentle reminders for compliance appointments and actively support
individuals in addressing any emerging needs or challenges. Our role also includes
helping to navigate potential pitfalls, ensuring they have strategies in place to avoid
reverting to old habits associated with past challenges.
➢ Ultimately, women who are re-entering the community within twelve to thirty-six
months of release and connecting individuals to external leisure activities and community
resources. We aim to provide enriching experiences that serve as a protective factor,
reducing the likelihood of future criminal behaviors. Last of all, our holistic approach
seeks to empower these individuals and their families for a successful life beyond
incarceration, prioritizing their overall well-being and community integration.
Services provided:

attendance, and educational resources needed.

❖ Healthcare/Mental Health & Physical resources
❖ Financial stability: budgeting, goal setting, checking/savings accounts.
❖ Legal assistance referral
❖ Entrepreneur/Business plans assistance.
❖ Identification: WA ID, certifications, i.e., assistance
❖ Driving License assistance
❖ Transportation referrals
❖ Employment support: Resume assistance, interview techniques in-person/online.
❖ Food, Utilities, housing assistance
❖ Furniture, referrals
❖ Clothing: New/Gentle used clothing needs, etc.
❖ Birthday celebration(s): Birthday cake w/candles, gift for “Birthday-Person(s), drinks,
light snacks/refreshments, decorations for a party.
❖ Barriers to reintegrating into the community and accessing resources.
